SUMMARY:Target Zero Lee County
DESCRIPTION:Target Zero – Lee County \nLocal Agencies addressing area’s deadliest crime \nHosted by LeeConnected\, Southwest Florida Business Alliance\, Friends of Bonita Estero Rail Trail\, and Lee Health Trauma \n(Fort Myers\, FL-August 22\, 2023)–Lee County continues to have an increasing number of fatalities on the roads.  In 2022\, there were 133 fatalities. If we were best-in-class for safe roads\, 120 people could have been with their families for the end of year holidays.   These are unnecessary losses of lives.   The total fatalities in Lee County would be like a Boeing 737 crashing at RSW every year.  Think about how we would react if there was a plane crash\, every\, single\, year at the airport.  Lee County looks to set another increase in fatalities in 2023.  We must reverse the trend. Our Target must be Zero.  We must work together to reduce fatalities and serious injuries on Lee Country Roads.  We must do better!  We are asking governmental agencies\, law enforcement\, and the community to come together to reduce crashes\, focusing on enforcement & infrastructure. \nEvent:       Target Zero Lee County \nIf you go: \nWho: Law enforcement and Government officials \nWhat: Lee County Safety coalitions and businesses will host a press conference to share information and tips on how to bring the fatality rate on our roadways down. \nWhere:  Jet Blue Park\,  11500 Fenway South Drive\, Fort Myers\, Fl. 33913 \nWhen:  August 22\, 2023\, 5:30pm \nLocal law enforcement will be present to discuss what is being done to combat the fatality rate in Lee County. Families who have been affected by a loved one’s death will be available also.
