A PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD ON JUNE 17, 2022 AT 9:00 A.M. WHERE THE MPO BOARD APPROVED THE ADOPTION OF THE FY 2022/2023 THROUGH FY 2026/2027 TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (TIP) AND THE FEDERAL AND STATE FUNDED PRIORITIES
Every year at this time, the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) develops a Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) that includes the transportation improvements that are planned to be undertaken over the next five years. The draft FY 2022/2023 through FY 2026/2027 document is now available for review and comment online at: DRAFT TIP
The approved TIP can be viewed here: APPROVED TIP
Hard copies of the approved document are available by contacting the MPO offices at 239-244-2220. Written comments may be submitted by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, faxed to (239)-790-2695 or mailed to P.O. Box 150045 Cape Coral, FL 33915-0045. Written comments received by the end of the business day on Thursday, June 16, 2022 will be presented to the MPO Board members on June 17, 2022, where the agenda items will be decided. Public comments may also be made at the meeting on June 17, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. located at the Lee County Administration East Facility, 2201 Second Street, Room 118, Fort Myers, Florida. This location is accessible by transit using LeeTran Route 20, and more information on service can be found at www.rideleetran.com.
The Transportation Improvement Program is updated annually and is approved by the MPO Board in June of each year. The update of the TIP started with the development of transportation priorities in June of 2021, the development and presentation of the tentative work program by FDOT in November of 2021 and with the final adoption at the June 17, 2022 MPO Board meeting. To be eligible for federal funds, a project must be included in the TIP. This public notice of public involvement activities and time established for public review and comment on the TIP will satisfy the program of projects requirements for LeeTran.
At the same June 17 MPO Board meeting, a public hearing was also held to approve the federal and state funded roadway and multi-modal improvement project priorities (roadway, bicycle, pedestrian, transit, and operational priorities). The priorities are available for review online at: PRIORITIES
Following the public hearing items, the Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization Board also approved the Transportation Regional Incentive Program priorities as well as received a presentation from FDOT on the Old US 41 Project Development and Environment Study (PD&E). Additional information on the meeting can be found at www.leempo.com.
