Alternatives Public Meeting for Able Canal Pathway PD&E Study from Harns Marsh to Joel Boulevard, Lee County
Ft. Myers, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, invites you to attend a public meeting for the Able Canal Pathway Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study from Harns Marsh to Joel Boulevard in Lee County.
The alternatives public meeting is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (open house format) on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Veterans Park Recreation Center, 55 Homestead Road South, Lehigh Acres, FL.
At this public meeting, FDOT will display the proposed pathway alternatives under consideration and the meeting will allow the public an opportunity to speak one-on-one with project team members. The public will be allowed to express their views concerning the location, conceptual design, and social, economic, and environmental effects of the proposed improvements. The meeting will be an open house format with no formal presentation.
Several Build Alternatives for the proposed shared-use pathway are being considered in addition to the No-Build Alternative. All Build Alternatives include a connection to Harns Marsh, located north of the Able Canal. The purpose of the pathway is to facilitate the use of viable, non-motorized travel options for commuters and recreational users in the Able Canal corridor and within the Lehigh Acres community by providing connections between nearby residential areas and Lehigh Acres park facilities.
This meeting is developed in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes. FDOT solicits public participation without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. §327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2016 and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and FDOT.
