The TIP contains vital information and data valuable to planners and engineers, such as total funding by funding source, lane and center line mileage completed by type of work, major projects completed, underway, and delayed, and current adopted priority lists of unfunded projects.
LIST OF PRIORITY PROJECTS
The Prioritized Project List (LOPP) is updated annually and contains a list of unfunded highway, roadway, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian projects that have been ranked for funding. The LOPP also includes aviation projects at RSW and Page Field Airport which is a mix of proposed landside and airside improvements. The LOPP serves as a bridge document between the Lee MPO 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan and the five-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Once long-term needs are determined by the 2050 Plan, projects are prioritized and ranked on the List of Priority Projects which is like a project funding waiting list. When funding becomes available, the project/project phase moves into the five-year funding program.
THE CURRENT LOPP
The LOPP is developed in conjunction with FDOT’s Draft Tentative Work Program and shows which projects are next in line for federal and state funding. Once projects are added to the draft Tentative Work Program they make their way into the MPO’s new TIP for the same five year period. Refer to the current LOPP, adopted by the Lee MPO Board, for a listing of the funding programs and prioritized projects under each program.
It is important to note that most new projects or project phases are typically added into the fifth year of the Draft Tentative Work Program. Once a project in the LOPP has been fully funded through construction in the FDOT Work Program and TIP, it is then removed from the LOPP. Any projects/project phases remaining on the LOPP can be advanced to a higher priority over time, and new projects can eventually be added to this list of priority projects.
